Faiveley is privileged to 2.8ha toward the north of Corton, planted exclusively to pinot noir. The expression of this site has become the focus, with the austerity of the wines under the previous generation giving way to a newfound focus on balance and fruit expression. To this end, the proportion of new oak is tweaked to suit the mood of the vintage, about two-thirds here. The result is impressively fragrant, open and expressive, singing with violets, red cherries and exotic spice of great allure. It’s elegant and finely poised with well-knit oak presence and great persistence of delicate red cherry fruit.
