Penfolds Bin 169 Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon
A blend of three Coonawarra vineyards, 2013 brings an altogether different personality to Bin 169 than 2008 (two blocks) and 2010 (one block). This impressive season in Coonawarra delivered a warm December and January and a cool to mild autumn, furnishing conditions for a classic Coonawarra cabernet of fragrance, vibrancy and tang. It’s built on a core of redcurrant, capsicum and lots of mint, impeccably structured with a mouth-coating envelope of firm, fine tannins and dark chocolate French oak (100% new hogsheads). Outstanding persistence, exceptional line, vibrant poise and all the tangy acidity of a mild autumn offer great promise over the decades to come. 15 October 2015 release.
