Stanton & Killeen Rosé Reserva

Two great little rosés under $15 in the same week! This cleverly crafted thing has the structure and style to step beyond the average rosé, into a world of wonderful food matching versatility. Simon Killeen harvests the Portuguese varieties touriga nacional, tinta cao and tinta barroca a little earlier than he does for port, but not as early as most for rosé, so as to retain some richness. The entire production is vinified in eight-year-old oak barrels with lees stirring and partial malolactic fermentation so as to create complexity and texture without oak characters, retaining the bright, fresh cranberry, pomegranate and raspberry notes of the fruit. The result is a beautifully textured, bone dry style with a fine tannin structure, tangy acidity and savoury appeal. Buy direct.
