Stefano Lubiana Sasso Pinot Noir

“I’m not trying to achieve a style, as I was in the past, but to let the vineyard express itself,” says Steve Lubiana. “I’m realising that less is more, and relying on the vineyard to provide the complexity.” Sasso is the embodiment of his philosophy, a flagship assembled from barrels displaying concentration and subtlety. A vintage of small berries with thick skins has infused deep, brooding intensity of black cherries and berry fruit compote amidst wonderfully lifted notes of exotic spice and slowly emerging nuances of truffles and forest floor. Tannins are very fine and silky, yet with a confidence, line and persistence that promise great things to come.
