Ulithorne Frux Frugis Shiraz

I have long admired Frux Frugis, and 2012 will go down among the very finest, parading a core of polished black fruits nothing short of downright fantastic. It’s a gorgeous expression of old vine McLaren Vale shiraz in succulent black cherry, blackberry and satsuma plum fruit with hints of liquorice and anise. 24 months in less than 20% new oak provides support and structure to propel the fruit rather than adding oak character, building a tannin frame that is very fine, textural and supple. Just 2400 bottles. $65 at Vintage Cellars.
