Cloudy Bay Te Wahi Pinot Noir

A newcomer of greatness has arrived in Central Otago, capturing the generosity of 2010 within the controlled, honed and age-worthy style that defines Cloudy Bay. The estate’s first foray outside Marlborough is a resounding success, and this small production wine from well established vineyards will confidently hold its own among Central Otago’s top ten estates. A beautiful bouquet captures the intensity of black cherry and plum fruit, the lift of violets and hints of anise, enhanced with the subtle mixed spice of whole bunch complexity. The palate retains an inherent sense of focus amidst excellent black cherry fruit succulence, sustained by tannins that are at once fine and silky, and at the same time confident and age-worthy, drawing out long amid tangy acidity. If we all ask nicely, it will land in Australia in the New Year.
