Larmandier-Bernier Dinner – 19 February 2020
It’s my great pleasure to invite you to join me for dinner with Pierre & Sophie Larmandier.
Some growers are known for their focus on the vines, others for their attention in the winery, but few find a harmony in every detail like this legendary estate.
Alongside his friend Ansleme Selosse, Pierre Larmandier is a radical pioneer who famously inspired a generation of Champenois to embrace responsible viticulture.
Following in the footsteps of his family’s winegrowing tradition on the Côte des Blancs since 1765, Pierre has spent 32 years growing and refining his estate, not least in pioneering biodynamics for 21 years.
Over countless visits spanning the past nine years, I have come to an immense respect for Pierre and Sophie, for all they stand for, for the profound influence that their example has had across Champagne, impacting everyone from the smallest growers to the largest houses, and most of all for the exceptional cuvées that they nurture from prized terroirs.
Their exceedingly fine wines rightfully rank high among the greatest of Champagne’s grower-producers, exemplifying the levels of purity and mineral focus that can be drawn out of the premier and grand cru terroirs of the Côte des Blancs with sufficient care and attention.
Join me for this unique opportunity to share an evening with Pierre and Sophie in person, experiencing their current releases from magnum and bottle, delving into the depths of their cellar, and being among the first to discover exciting future releases.
This dinner introduces Brisbane’s most exciting new venue, as Montrachet’s Shannon and Clare Kellam open their incredible new facility overlooking the Brisbane River upstairs in the Mercedes Autohaus.
