Peter Lehmann Margaret Barossa Semillon

This wine is an enigma. I have followed this label avidly for more than six years, tasted every vintage ever made multiple times, and enjoyed long discussions with its talented team of makers, yet it still eludes me that a wine of such mineral structure, finesse, and sheer longevity can be assembled from Barossa floor semillon. The only thing more absurd is its miniscule price. At a glorious six years of age, it’s still an electric green hue, boasting exacting purity of lemon and lime zest, with the slowly building maturity of roast nuts, toast, honey, cinnamon, nutmeg and lanolin. Fruit concentration is relentless and length and line are awe-inspiring. $25 at Aussie Wines, Wine List Australia and No Frills Wine.
