The New Age of Champagne Dinner – 13 April 2023
It’s my great privilege to invite you to dinner at Tate Modern London to share nine of the most sublime cuvées of the year, exploring the future of champagne, and celebrating the launch of The Champagne Guide Online!
Champagne is evolving quickly and establishing new directions for the future. I’ve assembled nine particularly special cuvées from nine of my favourite houses that each have something pertinent to say about where champagne is heading, including five prestige cuvées, two vintage cuvées, coteaux champenois blanc and coteaux champenois rouge!
This represents the finest set of cuvées I’ve ever poured in London. Taittinger Comtes and Charles Blanc des Millénaires are two of the very best blanc de blancs of the year, while Pol Roger Sir Winston and Deutz Hommage Meurtet are two of the most profound expressions of pinot noir. The uber-rare Louis Roederer Camille Hommage is one of the top coteaux champenois blanc, and Egly-Ouriet is the greatest coteaux champenois rouge. Francis Egly has graciously opened his museum cellar to offer us one of his very best vintages – 2015 en magnum! We shall commence with Billecart’s outstanding Vintage 2013 and conclude with the legendary Bollinger La Grande Année and Krug Grande Cuvée!
Off the back of six printed editions of The Champagne Guide spanning 13 years to date, my new web site Champagne.Guide will feature the full content and more than 3500 reviews from every edition, alongside hundreds of house overviews, scores of articles, best-of lists, in-depth market commentary and extensive photographs. The site will be continually updated with new reviews and articles, including thousands of new reviews never before published! You’ll be the first in the world to hear about it in person!
I’m very excited to finally return to London and I look forward to the opportunity to share these nine cuvées with you to celebrate the launch of Champagne.Guide!
