Michael aside, this is one of the finest shiraz releases to emerge from the modern era of Wynns. Not far from the revered vineyards of Majella, Wynns lays claim to the lion’s share of vines along V&A Lane, the axis of Coonawarra and source of some of its more finely-structured wines, including a significant contribution to Michael. This label is built around lighter, finer parcels that provide exemplary definition and poise of fragrant plum and blueberry fruit with hints of game and savoury spice. The generous 2010 season mounts its case in concentrated black fruits of outstanding definition, yet maintaining refreshing, medium-bodied lightness that flows into an elegant finish of white pepper and finely ground tannin texture and finesse. 1 August 2012 release.
