It’s our great pleasure to invite you to join us in a celebration of the greatest champagnes and burgundies at an exclusive weekend at the private sanctuary of Makepeace Island in the tranquil waters of the Noosa River, Sunshine Coast, on 12-14 March 2027!
For the past six years, our Champagne and Burgundy Weekends have been a much-anticipated highlight of our program in South-East Queensland. In 2027, we are thrilled to announce this exciting new venue collaboration for our inaugural island weekend!
Welcome to an immersion in 29 of our favourite champagnes and burgundies from 25 of the most legendary estates, including Billecart-Salmon, Blain Gagnard, Bollinger, Charles Heidsieck, Faiveley, Géantet-Pansiot, Hudelot-Noellat, Louis Roederer, Pierre Gimonnet, Pol Roger and William Fèvre.
Our weekend will commence with a Champagne Magnum Sunset Cruise on the Noosa River and culminate in a grand finale gala dinner, with two indulgent lunches and chef’s masterclass. Across the weekend, Makepeace Island’s multi-award-winning chef Zeb Gilbert will create each course to perfectly match our wines with French, Japanese and modern Australian cuisine that showcases local, seasonal produce.
Our Grand Cru and Premier Cru Red Burgundy Masterclass will be a high point of the weekend, lining up six of my favourite exemplars of the fabled pinot noir grape from the most revered vintages back to 2015!
You’ll also have time to relax on our private, 25-acre island and enjoy swimming, spa, tubing, paddleboarding, kayaking, fishing, tennis and hiking – or just reclining poolside or in your Balinese-inspired villa!
This intimate weekend is reserved exclusively for no more than 22 guests.

Friday 12 March
11am
Arrive at Noosa Marina for a private transfer to Makepeace Island (7 minutes)
11:30am
Arrive at the island to be greeted with a glass of champagne. Settle into your room following a short tour of the island.
12:30pm – 2:00pm
Casual modern Australian lunch paired with champagne, white and red Burgundy presented by Tyson!
2:00 – 5:00pm
Spend the afternoon at your leisure exploring the island. Relax in the 500,000 litre swimming pool or 15-person spa, get out on the Noosa River with tubing, paddleboarding, kayaking or skipper-led fishing, or enjoy a game of tennis. Explore the walking tracks on the 25-acre island, or take a transfer to Noosa National Park for one of the best walks in the country!
5:00pm – late
Meet at the jetty for a Champagne Magnum Sunset Cruise, Japanese style! Makepeace Island’s multi-award-winning chef, Zeb Gilbert, will create Japanese canapés to match our champagnes. Return to the island for a relaxed evening together over the final courses and more champagne magnums!
Saturday 13 March

Enjoy an a la carte breakfast at your leisure.

Enjoy a dumpling cooking class with Makepeace Island’s multi-award-winning chef Zeb Gilbert, paired with champagne presented by Tyson. Or enjoy a relaxed morning of swimming, tubing, paddleboarding, kayaking, skipper-led fishing, tennis or hiking.
12:00pm – 1:30pm
Enjoy a casual modern Australian lunch paired with champagne, white and red Burgundy.
3:00pm – 4:30pm
Join Tyson for his Grand Cru and Premier Cru Burgundy Masterclass. This will be the ultimate opportunity to discover six of the great red wines of Burgundy, from the top domaines of the Cote des Nuits and Cote de Beaune, including Charmes Chambertin, Latricières Chambertin and Le Corton!
6:00pm – late
The gala dinner is the grand finale of this exclusive weekend. Enjoy a twilight apéritif before settling into a six-course French degustation. The menu highlights the very finest local and seasonal produce, created to complement eight incredible wines of Champagne, Burgundy and Sauternes, all introduced by Tyson.

Enjoy breakfast at your leisure, amidst a relaxed morning on the island.

Makepeace Island offers three accommodation configurations:
Villas
Three Villas each contain two bedrooms and one vast shared bathroom with a carved volcanic boulder bath, separate shower, and dedicated dressing room. In each villa, one bedroom contains a four-poster king bed and the second bedroom can be configured as either a king or two singles. These villas are the most luxurious accommodation on the island. Boathouse
The Boathouse contains a king bedroom with ensuite and walk-in shower. Its first-floor location offers unterrupted views of the Noosa River and North Shore from a private balcony. The Boathouse is accessible only by stairs. See more Boathouse pictures and details. Book the Boathouse.
Bali House
The Bali House contains four privately ensuited bedrooms, each of which can be configured either as one king bed or two singles. Each room has a private ensuite with a walk-in shower and an individual deck with garden views. See more Bali House pictures and details. Book a Bali House room.
